Least Bittern: Clapper call is even-paced or slowing, unlike accelerating clapper calls of rails. • Contact call is a high, short erk; higher than other herons. • Song is a repeated series of guttural cooing notes; recalls Black-billed Cuckoo but less whistled quality and repeated less frequently (usually one series every 5-10+ seconds).
